From October 27th to 31st, the 18th Challenge Cup National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Contest was successfully held in Guizhou University. A total of 1,745 works were recommended in this competition. After the preliminary round, 690 works from 344 Universities in Mainland of China and 23 works from 9 universities in Hong Kong and Macao regions of China were shortlisted for the final review. The project of our school entitled Research on the coordination control of single-atom catalysts and the performance enhancement mechanism of lithium-sulfur batteries finally won the first national prize (The instructors are Xu Xu, Kou Zongkui, Yan Mengyu. The students are Dong Chenxu, Wang Hanxiao, Zhang Xianyang).
Since its first competition in 1989, the Challenge Cup National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Contest has played an active role in promoting the growth of young innovative talents, deepening quality education in colleges and universities, and facilitating economic and social development. It is known as the "Olympic" event for scientific and technological innovation among contemporary college students. Since its launch, the contest has attracted more than 2,000 colleges and universities across the country, more than 400,000 works, and more than 2.5 million students to participate.
In this competition, the college's atomic lithium-sulfur team successfully broke through the scientific problem of microenvironment control of sub-nanometer scale materials, gradually and in-depth control of a series of single-atom coordination environments, and revealed the structure-activity relationship between single-atom catalyst coordination control and performance improvement. It has achieved excellent cycle performance and ultrahigh rate performance of lithium-sulfur batteries, facilitating the development of high-performance lithium-sulfur batteries.
The ISMSE has all long attached great importance to the cultivation of students' scientific and technological innovation awareness, innovative character and innovative ability.
